Nordic Walking in Montserrat

Dare to discover the magical mountain of Catalonia!

What will we do?

A weekend (2 days and 1 night) in Montserrat, the magical mountain of Catalonia, to walk through some of its most interesting and beautiful areas with Nordic walking. We will also visit the Montserrat Monastery which celebrates its millennium and we will have the option of delving into its history. 

Day 1: Saturday, 24th May

8:30h. Meeting at the Can Maçana car park

8:45h. Start of the route in the aguilles and roca forada area. Distance: 9.5km, elevation gain +580m., 3h. walking, 4h. in total, medium difficulty

13:00h. Picnic lunch

14:00h. Car and Cremallera railway

16:30h. Arrival at the Montserrat abbey (accommodation and rest)

17:00-20:30h. Visit to the Monastery, Our Lady of Montserrat, museum and video mapping

20:45h. Dinner at the restaurant

 

Day 2: Sunday 25th May

7:30h. Breakfast

8:30h. Start of route towards ​​Sant Jeroni (1,236m) and return via hermitages. Distance: 10.5km, elevation gain +580m, 4h. walking, 5.5h. total, medium difficulty

14:00h. Return to the Monastery (end of routes)

14:30h. Lunch at a restaurant

17:00h. Cremallera and pinion descent to the car park

17:30h. Return from Monistrol-Vila by car (private and/or shared)

 

Group: 15 places (the minimum group required to carry out the activity is 6 people, if the minimum is not reached, 100% of the amount will be refunded)

Essential individual equipment: It is essential to bring Nordic walking poles (can be rented upon reservation) and trekking/mountain clothing to complete the route: windbreaker jacket, warm clothing/fleece, breathable and comfortable clothing, shorts/long pants, sports or mountain socks, trail/trekking shoes, gloves, pants, hat/cap, sunglasses and sunscreen and lip protection. Backpack cover for rain. Spare clothes to change into at the accommodation, for sleeping and for the next day.

Food: You must bring water and whatever food you consider appropriate for the first day's lunch (sandwich, lunchbox, fruit, nuts, chocolate, energy bars...) and for the second day something to snack on during the excursion. Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast and lunch are included in the price.

Activity guide: Qualified Nordic walking guide with extensive mountain experience and knowledge of the Montserrat Natural Park.
